From being named on the annual Inc. 5000 list and winning honors from Arizona Foothills magazine, to speaking engagements across the country, 2022 has been a successful year for the top cannabis branding and packaging company.
As an American company focused on sustainability, DIZPOT is emerging as the top organization listening to what the cannabis industry wants: American-produced and distributed goods on time, every time.
Celebrating its fifth year in business, 2022 has been a banner year for DIZPOT. Recently named one of America’s fastest-growing private companies, DIZPOT has experienced a 319% growth over the past three years. Additionally, DIZPOT was named Best National Valley-Based Company, and its co-founder, John Hartsell, was named best CEO in Arizona Foothills Magazine.
DIZPOT has had more than a 27 percent revenue increase compared to 2021, even in a struggling economy with inflation on the rise. “DIZPOT contributes this success to our core values and ability to understand the cannabis industry and our clients through 100-plus years of combined experience in the industry,” Hartsell says. “DIZPOT specializes in navigating challenges and finding solutions to guarantee satisfaction to our clients.”
These are all amazing accomplishments for a company that started when two long-time friends, John Hartsell and Jeff Scrabeck, decided to start a cannabis packaging distribution company with $45,000 seed money and an old-school work ethic that they still pride themselves on today. DIZPOT remains a privately owned, debt-free company.
2022 Highlights
One of this year’s top highlights for DIZPOT is being named No. 1899 on the annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list represents a one-of-a-kind look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent businesses. “Being recognized among the nation’s fastest-growing private companies as an ancillary cannabis business is a major point of pride when we reflect on this past year,” says Traci Black, VPO at DIZPOT.
DIZPOT produced more than 78.6 million packages in 2022, welcomed 123 new customers, including those in Puerto Rico and Alaska, won over 1194+ new deals, and made 1321+ deliveries. DIZPOT also released their first patented pending proprietary package–Paper Tubes–and had the name DIZPOT and logo officially trademarked.
An industry leader, DIZPOT has also been featured in multiple media outlets for their cannabis packaging expertise, including the recent “Seed to CEO” podcast, where Hartsell shared some of the stories behind the company’s success.
Added to multiple media interviews, the experts at DIZPOT spent 2022 speaking on new technologies supporting the cannabis supply chain at 14 events in nine states. “We are a multi-dimensional company committed to serving this dynamic, growing industry, and part of that service is sharing our expertise and lessons learned with fellow cannabis industry professionals,” Hartsell says.
In total, their team attended over 30 events across the country throughout the year, including MJBizCon, MJUnpacked, Canna Tech Expo, and Lucky Leaf Expo. DIZPOT joined multiple new associations, including MOCANN Trade, MICIA, MITA Maine, ADA, NMCCC, and SCTA.
Hartsell was selected to speak on a panel at MJBizCon 2022 about the future of cannabis packaging alongside additional cannabis packaging leaders from across the country. The DIZPOT team collaborated with partners LeafyPack by providing co-branded packaging to use for live automation demonstrations during the expo.
This year, DIZPOT also launched DIZLOGIC, a logistics division that moves products of all kinds to support the cannabis industry supply chain needs, DIZLOGIC has moved millions of products and multiple containers throughout the world and across the United States over 2022 while still cutting shipping costs by 20 percent.
Firm believers in giving back to the community and advocating for positive reform, DIZPOT committed to producing 50,000 ballot awareness stickers for Missouri medical marijuana patients to vote yes on amendment 3 for adult-use marijuana and the amendment passed.
Additionally, DIZPOT partnered with a local sustainability partner Resinate Recycle and donated 50,000 pieces of recyclable material, and in total, DIZPOT recycled 986.9 lbs. DIZPOT also often volunteers with Tom’s Palms, an Arizona-based nonprofit that provides resources to those with home and food insecurities.
What’s been the secret to so much success packed into 12 short months? Jeff Scrabeck, COO, and co-founder of DIZPOT say it’s because of the company’s continuing dedication to their old school service and values.
“We have scaled quickly and have been recognized among the nation’s fastest-growing private companies—an honor that is due to our focus on ‘old school’ service, treating our employees like family, and putting our customers first,” Scrabeck says.
“Service excellence, seeking out knowledge, and constant growth financially and personally were the most dominant driving forces in the early days of DIZPOT and continue to propel our company forward today,” Hartsell adds. “We look forward to continuing this success in 2023 and beyond.”
